A Letter From The Chair Fellow Democrats: What an exciting time to be a Democrat!
I want to thank everyone for all your hard work in last year's election. President Obama carried Pennsylvania by a wide margin, and your efforts helped to make that possible. Of course, as President Obama said in his acceptance speech, this election is not, in itself, the change that we've been talking about - it's just the opportunity to implement the change.
As the Obama Administration and our Democratic Congress work to bring about the "Change We Need" in Washigton, there's still a lot of work to be done, at the state, county and local levels, as well.
I hope that those of you you who've been working so hard over the past weeks and months will stay involved, as we continue to grow and strengthen the Franklin County Democratic Party, as we work to elect Democrats on a local and state level in 2009, and beyond. Over the past several years, we have a assembled great team of local volunteers and activists to carry our values, visions and dreams into the future.
The Democratic Party is vital, active and growing in Franklin County, and we'd love for you to be a part of it. Find out more about how you can get involved.
On a personal note, my daughter Ellie was born in late October, and underwent open-heart surgery in Mid-March. I am temporarily on leave from my duties with the party, in order to concentrate on my family, as she continues to recover.
During my absence, please refer your comments or questions to Acting Chairman Paul Politis, or one of the other members of our Executive Committee.
Thank You, Beth Shupp-George Chair, Franklin County Democrats
