A Letter From The Chair Fellow Democrats: What an exciting time to be a Democrat!
I want to thank everyone for all your hard work over the past several days, weeks and months.
President Elect Obama (how great does THAT sound!!!) carried Pennsylvania by a wide margin, and your efforts helped to make that possible. I will not try to thank everyone individually, because I know I would leave out too many people, but I do specifically want to thank Field Organizer Tim Diehl, both personally and on behalf of the Franklin County Democratic Party. Tim arrived in Franklin County about three months ago, and took charge of our local efforts, as we funnelled the party's volunteers directly into the Obama campaign's field operations. Of course, as President Elect Obama (I can't say that enough!) said in his acceptance speech, this election is not, in itself, the change that we've been talking about - it's just the opportunity to implement the change. There's still a lot of work to be done, at all levels, and I hope that those of you you who've been working so hard over the past weeks and months will stay involved, as we continue to grow and strengthen the Franklin County Democratic Party, as we work to elect Democrats on a local and state level in 2009, and as we bring the change that we need to our little corner of the world. Watch the website for information about upcoming campaign events and volunteer opportunities, as well as inaugural festivities, both in Washington, DC and locally,.
Locally, we've been working hard to recruit volunteers, keep our activities vibrant and expand our visibility in the community.
We have a great team of volunteers and activists to carry our values, visions and dreams into the future.
The Democratic Party is vital, active and growing in Franklin County, and we'd love for you to be a part of it.
Find out more about how you can get involved.
I hope to be meeting and working with many of you over the coming months and years, and I welcome your input about the issues that matter most to you, and what you would like to see from your Democratic Party.
Thank You, Beth Shupp-George Chair, Franklin County Democrats
